Über Autor(innen)

Emily Walsh is a non-practising solicitor with a background in commercial real estate and is an Associate Professor of Landlord and Tenant Law and Legal Education at the University of Portsmouth. She leads modules in land law and property practice and has extensive experience teaching land and landlord and tenant law to students across both law and surveying programmes. Emily also supervises students in the University’s legal advice clinic, supporting clients on a wide range of land and landlord and tenant matters. Her recent research focuses on the experiences of tenants in the private rented sector, with particular emphasis on the concept of home in rented accommodation and the position of student occupiers. Emily also has a strong interest in higher education pedagogy and legal education research. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she mentors colleagues through fellowship applications and serves on the University’s HEA fellowship assessment panel. Her publications and ongoing research projects explore assessment in legal education and the teaching of law to non-law students.

Annabelle Harrison is a non-practising solicitor with a background in commercial practice. She is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Head (Curriculum) at the University of Portsmouth's School of Civil Engineering and Surveying, where she contributes to the development of practice-informed legal education aligned with professional body accreditation requirements. Annabelle coordinates undergraduate modules in Introduction to Law for the Built Environment and Land Law and Landlord and Tenant Law, ensuring students develop the legal competencies required for professional practice. Annabelle holds an LLM in Construction Law and Practice, for which she was awarded the Hill Dickinson Prize for best dissertation, evaluating the implications of the Building Safety Act 2022 on defect claims. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, her academic interests span legal education, practice-informed pedagogy, and the evolving landscape of assessment, particularly in the context of artificial intelligence. She has recently presented on these themes at the Association of Law Teachers conference.
