There is a tendancy towards regional and world-wide harmonization and even unification of civil procedural law. On a European level, various mechanisms have led to an ongoing approximation of the different national schemes of civil procedure, ending most likely one day in a European Code of Civil Procedure. The same is true for other regions; and on a worldwide level there are more and more projects dealing with similar issues on regional levels. In this publication the following projects will be discussed: the new Proposal for a Council Regulation on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments ( Brussels Regulation ), the new Preliminary Draft Hague Convention on jurisdiction and foreign judgments, and the ALI/UNIDROIT project for transnational rules of civil procedure.
