Lamonte Aidoo is the Andrew W. Mellon Assistant Professor of Romance Studies at Duke University, USA. He is the author of Slavery Unseen: Sex, Power, and Brazil’s Myth of Racial Democracy , and co-editor of Lima Barreto: New Critical Perspectives .  Daniel F. Silva is Assistant Professor of Spanish and Portuguese and Comparative Literature at Middlebury College, USA. He is the author of Subjectivity and the Reproduction of Imperial Power: Empire’s Individuals and co-editor of Lima Barreto: New Critical Perspectives .
