The definitive reference on electromagnetic shielding materials, configurations, approaches, and analyses
This reference provides a comprehensive survey of options forthe reduction of the electromagnetic field levels in prescribedareas. After an introduction and an overview of availablematerials, it discusses figures of merit for shieldingconfigurations, the shielding effectiveness of stratified media, numerical methods for shielding analyses, apertures in planar metalscreens, enclosures, and cable shielding. Up to date andcomprehensive, Electromagnetic Shielding:
* Explores new and innovative techniques in electromagneticshielding
* Presents a critical approach to electromagnetic shielding thathighlights the limits of formulations based on plane-wavesources
* Analyzes aspects not normally considered in electromagneticshielding, such as the effects of the content of the shieldingenclosures
* Includes references at the end of each chapter to facilitatefurther study
The last three chapters discuss frequency-selective shielding, shielding design procedures, and uncommon ways ofshielding--areas ripe for further research. This is anauthoritative, hands-on resource for practicing telecommunicationsand electrical engineers, as well as researchers in industry andacademia who are involved in the design and analysis ofelectromagnetic shielding structures.

Salvatore Celozzi, PhD, is Professor at the University of Rome La Sapienza. He has published approximately one hundred papers in refereed journals or in proceedings of international conferences, mainly in the fields of electromagnetic shielding, transmission lines, and printed circuits. He served for five years as associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility for papers on shielding and received several awards from the IEEE EMC Society. RODOLFO ARANEO, PhD, is Assistant Professor at the University of Rome La Sapienza. His research focuses on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and includes numerical and analytical techniques for modeling high-speed printed circuit boards, shielding, and transmission line analysis.GIAMPIERO LOVAT, PhD, is Associate Researcher atthe University ofRome La Sapienza. Dr. Lovat's research encompasses theoretical and numerical studies on leakage phenomena in planar structures, leaky-wave antennas and arrays, guidance and radiation in metamaterials, general periodic structures, and low-frequency antennas.
