Kees de Bot got his PhD from the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. His interests range from bilingual processing to language attrition and language development over the lifespan, language and aging and circadian rhythm in language learning. His main research topic now is ‘what counts as evidence in Applied Linguistics. He has published in the main leading journals in the field of Applied Linguistics and has published a book on the history of Applied Linguistics with Routledge in 2015. He recently retired from the University of Groningen and is now working at the University of Pannonia in HungaryMakoni Sinfree:
Sinfree Makoni teaches in the Department of Applied Linguistics and African Studies, at Penn State University. He is a Research Fellow in the English Department at the University of South Africa, Pretoria. He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Edinburgh University. His main interests are: Aging and Health, Language and politics, and philosophies of Language. Some of his work has been published in Current Issues in Language Planning, Language Policy, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural development.Kees de Bot is Chair of Applied Linguistics at the University of Groningen. His research interests include psycholinguistic aspects of multilingualism, maintenance and loss of languages and language policy. More recently he has turned his interest to the application of Dynamic Systems Theory in applied Linguistics. Sinfree Makoni is an internationalist. He did his Phd in the UK and has held a number of professional appointments in the Africa and currently teaches in the US. His main research interests are aging and health in multilingual contexts across the globe, and language in urban contexts.
