Currently, the future of the radio is more relevant than ever. The requirements, hopes and expectations on radios are various. Even before its institutionalisation the radio had been a place of numerous discoursive negotiations. The use of new technologies, connected to the radio as an artefact and sensual event, form new methods of hearing. New auditive experiences and acoustic rooms are connected with it. They provide a continuous surplus on acoustics, that is available - anytime and anywhere. Whereas the presentations on radios in Austria are normally restricted to historical radio studies, the present study tries to connect aesthetic and cultural-historical questions.
