Über Autor(innen)

Frederick Hirsch, a Senior Architect at Nokia, isresponsible for the company's Web Services standardizationstrategy, and for security in Web service products. He is an activecontributor to the Web Services Security and Digital SignatureServices committees of OASIS, and has worked as an editor in theOASIS Security Services technical committee (SAML 2.0). Frederickis also an editor of the Security Mechanisms specifications in theTechnical Expert Group of the Liberty Alliance, and has contributedsecurity sections to the Mobile Web Services architecture andspecification of the Open Mobile Alliance. He has also participatedin the XML Signature and XML Encryption working groups of W3C, andhas co-edited the W3C XKMS requirements. He is Nokia'sprimary voting representative at OASIS and WS-I, and a member ofthe OASIS Board of Directors, where he chairs the StrategyCommittee. He has extensive experience in distributed systems andsecurity, having worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories, BBN, OpenSoftware Foundation (OSF; later the Open Group Research Institute),and CertCo, as well as a number of smaller companies. He holdsdegrees from MIT, Stanford, and Boston University.
John Kemp has spent the past two years intimatelyinvolved in the development of the Nokia Web services architecture.During that time, he has edited and contributed to several Webservice specifications, including the Liberty Alliance IdentityFederation and Identity Web Services frameworks, and the OASISSecurity Services SAML 2 specification. John has been involved indeveloping Internet-scale software systems since 1996, helping tobuild one of the first Web browser-based softwareapplications, the Employease Network. Prior to joining Nokia, Johnwas an independent software developer whose clients includedDeutsche Bank and the Liberty Alliance. He holds a degree inComputer Science and Artificial Intelligence, and is now learningto play the ukulele.
Norbert Leser started his professional life in hardwareengineering in Germany, where he pioneered a government-fundedresearch project for a mobile Unix-based computer. He then joinedSiemens to develop networking and security software. Soonafterwards, in 1988, he volunteered to help with the establishmentof OSF in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was one of the leadingarchitects to conceive and integrate the Distributed ComputingEnvironment (DCE), of which several concepts are reoccurring in Webservice technologies. After a long journey at OSF, Norbert began towork with startup companies that address the usability ofinformation security. Most notably, he assumed the role of ChiefArchitect at Liquid Machines in breaking new ground with a highlyintuitive and easy-to-use enterprise rights management productline. Norbert joined Nokia's Strategic Architecture group,where he assumed responsibility for bringing Web servicetechnologies to mobile devices in a way that is useful andnon-intimidating to users and developers. He currently worksspecifically on providing guidance for development tools.
