Rudolf Hoermann received his MD and PhD from the University of Munich, Germany and is a board certified Internist and Endocrinologist. His training included a fellowship with Harvard University, Boston, USA. During his career he held various positions at leading universities in Germany. He headed the Department of General Medicine, Gastroenterology and Endocrinology at Klinikum Lüdenscheid, a major teaching hospital. He is a member of numerous medical societies.

After retirement, he currently lives at the Sunshine Coast, Australia where as an independent scholar he continues to be involved in research with several institutions, including his former institution and the Universities of Bochum, Germany and Melbourne, Australia. His ongoing interest in thyroidology and extensive experience in basic and clinical research is documented by the authorship or co-authorship of more than 150 articles or reviews in peer-reviewed journals, a dedicated book to thyroid disease, numerous book sections and many international scientific presentations.

Johannes W Dietrich received his medical education and training at the University of Munich. He is currently the Head of the Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism Section, Department of Medicine I, St. Josef Hospital, Ruhr University of Bochum and of the Diabetes Centre Bochum/Hattingen, Klinik Blankenstein, Hattingen. His interest lies in basic and clinical research in endocrinology with special focus on thyroidology and diabetology. He is also proficient in several programming languages and mathematical modelling. He is a member of multiple international and national societies and the author of more than 150 scientific publications, not including his numerous oral and poster presentations.
