This edited collection examines the natural, but sometimes troubled, relationship that exists between heritage and tourism. Chapters included focus on a selection of topics, including literary tourism, industrial heritage, conservation and care. Employing a range of historical and cultural materials, as well as an extensive number of case studies, the chapters offer an engaging overview of heritage and tourism developments across the Isles, especially in terms of recent policy and strategy initiatives, new facilities and infrastructure, as well as the different and evolving management systems currently in place. Glenn Hooper is a Lecturer in the School of Business and Society at Glasgow Caledonian University, and has held academic appointments at St. Mary's University College Belfast, the University of Aberdeen and the Open University. He is the author of Travel Writing and Ireland, 1760-1860, and editor of Landscape and Empire, 1770-2000 and The Tourist's Gaze: Traveller's to Ireland, 1800-2000.
