John, Banville
John Banville was born in Wexford, Ireland, in 1945. After college he worked for the airline Aer Lingus and enjoyed traveling widely. His literary reputation is built on the fictional portraits of three brilliant scientists (Copernicus, Kepler, Newton), but his writing comprises a variety of forms: novels, including crime novels, scripts and plays, and he is literary editor for the Irish Times.
