Ngok MA is currently Head and Associate Professor at the Department of Government and Public Administration, Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests include political institutions, social movements, electoral and party politics, state-society relations and democratization in Hong Kong. He has published five books and about 20 refereed journal articles on Hong Kong, including in The China Quarterly, Journal of Democracy, Economy and Society and Journal of Contemporary China. Edmund W. CHENG is Assistant Professor at the Department of Government and International Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University. He researches contentious politics, development studies, democratization and local politics with a focus on China, Hong Kong and Malaysia. He has articles published or forthcoming in Political Studies, The China Quarterly, Social Movement Studies, Modern Asian Studies, among others.
