Alex Neill is a Reader in Philosophy at the University ofSouthampton. His current focus is on the history of18th- and 19th-century philosophicalaesthetics. He is co-editor (with Aaron Ridley) of ThePhilosophy of Art: Readings Ancient and Modern (1995) andArguing About Art: Contemporary Philosophical Debates, 3e(2007).
Christopher Janaway is Professor of Philosophy at theUniversity of Southampton. His research interests fall chiefly inthe areas of 19th-century German philosophy andaesthetics. His recent books include Schopenhauer: A VeryShort Introduction (2002), Reading Aesthetics: SelectedTexts with Interactive Commentary (Blackwell, 2005), andBeyond Selflessness: Reading Nietzsche's Genealogy(2007).
