Susan Schulherr, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social workerwho has had a private psychotherapy practice in New York City fornearly 30 years. She has worked with people with eating disordersfor over 20 of those years. Her chapter on treating binge eatingdisorder appears in the 2005 book, EMDR Solutions: Pathways toHealing (Shapiro, Norton). Her article, "TheBinge-Diet Cycle: Shedding New Light, Finding NewExits," was published in Eating Disorders: The Journal ofTreatment and Prevention (1998). She has presented workshops atthe local and national level on eating disorders and on issues ofweight and eating to both professional and nonprofessionalaudiences.
Ms. Schulherr is a trained family and couples therapist. She hasextensive experience in the trauma specialty approaches of EMDR andSomatic Experiencing, each of which she has adapted for thetreatment of eating disorders.
