DR. BRIAN SIMMONS is a passionate lover of God. After a dramatic conversion to Christ, Brian knew that God was calling him to go to the unreached people of the world and present the gospel of God's grace to all who would listen. With his wife, Candice, and their three children, he spent eight years in the tropical rain forest of the Darien Province of Panama as a church planter, translator, and consultant. Having been trained in linguistics and Bible translation principles, Brian assisted in the Paya-Kuna New Testament translation project. After his ministry overseas, Brian was instrumental in planting a thriving church in New England (U.S.) and currently travels full time as a speaker and Bible teacher. JANUARY 1

I love you because you are my child.

I love you simply because you are my child. I enjoy you for the same reason. I didn’t create you so you could run around doing my bidding. I created you because I want to share my love with you. I desired you and held you in my heart before you were formed in your mother’s womb.

I didn’t create you so that you could something for me. I simply want to pour my love into you—without reservation. It’s a love so deep, it is hard to put into words. This is how I feel about You weren’t born with a to-do list from me. I didn’t create you on a mass production line. I started pouring love into you when you were in your mother’s womb. I took my time and weaved every detail of your being. I love you simply because I love you.

This is how much God loved the world—

he gave his one and only, unique Son .

So now everyone who believes in him

will never perish but experience everlasting life.

God did not send his Son into the world

to judge and condemn the world,

but to be its Savior and rescue it!

JOHN 3:16–17

JANUARY 2

I want every part of you to be free.

I want you to be one with me—living in union with me. Allow yourself to be fully consumed with me—spirit, mind, and body. I want you to sense my presence in your spirit, your mind, and your body. I am as close as your next breath.

I want every part of you to be free. When your mind is consumed with your problems, you’re not experiencing the fullness of my love. I want you to find true freedom in complete oneness with me. So focus your thoughts and your mind on me. Trust me and completely resign your will to mine. Release your cares into my hands. I want to take your burdens and worries from you. Let me have control, and you will finally experience the freedom and unity in me. Let me give you the peace you long for and desire.

The mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.

JANUARY 3

See yourself through my eyes.

I want you to see yourself through eyes of love and acceptance. You believe in me and my love for you, and I want you to believe in yourself too. Let your confidence in me grow greater, especially in the areas you feel inadequate and afraid. I see your weaknesses, but I still believe in you!

Instead of looking in the mirror and doubting yourself, trust my judgment. I have said that you can do all things through me. If you don’t believe that, then you are doubting not only yourself but me as well. You are more powerful than you know. The wisdom of the ages lives inside of you. You are bursting with my favor! I have given you unique gifts to share with the world. You are a masterpiece! I have anointed you. You are my radiant bride, full of my glory. Be confident and find your strength in me. Do not wear a mask to cover who you are. I made you just as you are and I do not make mistakes. Discover greater depths in me, and in the process you will discover more about yourself.

We have come into an intimate experience with God’s love, and we trust in the love he has for us. God is love! Those who are living in love are living in God, and God lives through them.

1 JOHN 4:16–17

JANUARY 4

I offer you true vision.

From today forward, I am calling you to lay aside your blindness and take my healing eye salve—the revelation of my love—and see everything differently. I want you to be known as a child of the living God as you speak with purity and clear vision. I will show you the secrets of what is to come when your eyes have been healed and you look upon my throne.

I give you this day that springs from revelation and understanding. Your eyes will be anointed to see beyond the moment with faith that trusts in invisible realities. I created you to see clearly, past the illusions the enemy seeks to distract you with. I have given you this gift of discerning grace that you might bring hope where others have lost courage—that you might stand in confidence, knowing my truth will prevail, when swirling chaos abounds. Take this healing eye salve of love to the people, and watch what I will do as you speak my words and see with my eyes.

“Purchase eye salve to be placed over your eyes so that you can truly see.

All those I dearly love I unmask and train.

So repent and be eager .”

JANUARY 5

I enjoy the kiss of your worship.

I love for you to worship me—to give me your deepest affection. Never withhold what I treasure most: your praise, your voice, your songs of adoration. They are like a kiss to me. Your worship is specially perfumed to bring me delight; it is precious and of great value to me. I paid for it with the death of my most precious Son so you could experience worship like you’ve never known. As it rises from your heart, I carry it to my throne—such a beautiful offering of love.

Today, I will open up a brand-new dimension, a new element of your worship. I will make it flow from you in waves of praise and rise from depths of worship. And each time you worship through your pain, it rises as a fragrant offering before my throne.

I am calling you from my sacred chamber. Come and spend time with me and offer those sacrifices of praise. I will draw you into that cloud-filled chamber of intimacy, where we will share the cup of my love, together. So come, my glorious inheritance. Come and enter into love’s delight. I love you, my bride.

Your kisses of love are exhilarating, more than any delight I’ve known before.

Your kisses of love awaken even the lips of sleeping ones.

JANUARY 6

You are my glorious inheritance.

My delight in you is real, for you are my glorious inheritance. I have taken you, carried you, and made you my own. Men inherit houses and land and wealth, but you are inheritance.

Your love is my finest wine, intoxicating and pleasing. Your worship is a pleasing offering to me each day. You are my reward and eternal inheritance. Our joy for eternity will be to have each other. Nothing can diminish the bliss we will share together. My Son has bled and died for you, for you are the love gift that I promised him as he came to earth—the glorious inheritance of the Son.

My mercies endure forever, my loving-kindness flows throughout your days. I will watch over you and guard your way, for sacred blood was given to make you mine. I long to bless you. I find great joy in seeing you grow! Others may speak dark words of fear and rejection over you, but my words will always bring life to your soul and strength to your heart. Be sensitive to my voice, and you will hear me whisper to you this day:

I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling—that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!

I am enough for you.

I am enough for you. When you face difficulties and limitations, I will whisper into your heart, I will not shield you from every hardship, but as you walk through them with your eyes set on me—yes, even in the deepest pain—I am still enough. I will be your shield and your strength in the midst of your difficulty.

When you are lonely and seek companionship, I am enough. When your heart is troubled over many things, bring your soul before me, for I am enough. When the lies men have spoken bring disturbance into your mind, I will wash them away, for my Word is enough.

Your thoughts cannot contain the love I have for you. And you will never be able to comprehend with your mind the plans that I have for you. I am here for you. My Spirit longs to satisfy every part of you: your mind, your soul, your desires, your longings. When darkness comes, I am enough to see you through the night. Come and learn the secret that all my lovers learn: I am enough for you.

You do hear me.

You do hear me. At times you doubt it, but today, I’ve come to give assurance. My voice pours forth from the yearning, loving overflow of your heart. It’s when your mind is consumed with thoughts of me and you’re turned away from all other thoughts that you discover me bubbling up from within.
