They are not instructions or recommendations, nor should they be adopted as a policy guideline, but viewed merely as things to potentially consider when travelling - either for business or pleasure. The number of tips is a recognition of the 150th anniversary of one of the world's leading business travel and meetings partners, CWT, which traces its origins back to the introduction of the first sleeping car to European railways in 1872.

When not office-bound, the author has managed to travel off the beaten track through jungles, remote seas, swamps, mountains and veld. He has maintained his sense of humour despite _x000D_having been arrested, mugged, shot at, charged by wild animals, got himself spectacularly lost in the desert (so is not always the luckiest travel companion) and developed a taste for dry martini cocktails. More by accident than design he has accumulated a wealth of experiences engaging with nomadic tribes, smugglers and wild animals of all imaginable shape and size, while still finding time to donate blood to both the UK NHS and rather too many mosquitoes.
