The linkages between Eurasia and India have been apparent throughout history. In the post-Soviet period, Eurasia’s importance has increased, and Siberia has emerged as an important player because of the effectiveness of trans-national routes, inter-regional and intra-regional communication networks within Eurasia and trans-national trade routes.
This book provides a detailed, interdisciplinary analysis of the historical-cultural linkages between Eurasia (Buryatia, Khakassia and Altai Republics of Russian Federation) and India. Contributors assess issues such as the civilizational links between Eurasia and India, the process of the revival of indigenous traditions in the region in the post-Soviet period and the problems and prospects of Eurasian economic integration, with particular reference to growing China’s influence in the region and its implications for India.
Offering a new understanding of the significant and strategic Indian ties to Eurasian states, this book will be of interest to academics studying Eurasian and Central Asian society and geopolitics, International Relations and South Asian Studies.
