Rob Evans is a lecturer for Academic English/Business English in the Language Centre / Sprachenzentrum of the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, Germany. He studied Russian in the UK and Germany, obtaining his first degree from the University of Leeds. After working for many years as a language teacher in adult, further and higher education, he gained an MA and Doctorate in Education from the Open University. He has lived and worked outside the UK for over 30 years, in Germany, Italy and Egypt. His main research interests include biography research methods, conversation and discourse analysis and discourses of learning. Recent publications include "Learning Discourse. Learning Biographies, Embedded Speech and Discourse Identity in Students' Talk" (2004), Peter Lang and "L'entretien auto/biographique et les paroles" (2008), Pratiques de formations (Analyses), 55, Décembre 2008, Université Paris VIII.
