Dr. Clare E. Robinson

Dr. Clare E. Robinson is a Canada Research Chair in Water Quality and Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Western University.  She recieved her BEng and PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia.  Before joining Western University in 2009, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship at EPFL in Switzerland and worked as a Water Engineer for a water supply and sanitation NGO in Bangladesh. She is a registered professional engineer in Ontario

Dr. Robinson investigates water-borne contaminants in the environnent with a focus on understanding the sources, transport and fate of contaminants in natural and engineered systems. Dr. Robinson’s current research includes evaluating impact of groundwater contaminants on surface water quality, urban stormwater management for water quality control, and determining the impacts of onsite wastewater systems on surface water quality.  Dr. Robinson received an Early Research Award from the Ontario Government (2012) and was a member of the International Joint Commission Great Lakes Science Advisory Board from 2014 to 2019.  She also was awarded a Western Faculty Scholar (2020-2022) and the Western Green Award (2018).  Dr. Robinson has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals and given over 60 invited talks at international conferences, universities, and at government and industry workshops.

Dr. Mohamed H. Zaki

Mohamed H. Zaki is an Assistant Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Western University in Ontario, Canada. Before, he was an assistant professor in Civil, Environmental & Construction Engineering Department at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Florida. Dr. Zaki multidisciplinary research focuses on solving tomorrow's smart cities problems; from the computing and information to its facilities infrastructure.

He is an elected member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Transportation Safety Committee and the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committee of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Applications (AED50). As part of the AED50 leadership team, he is the co-chair of the papers review subcommittee. Additionally, he serves as a handling editor of the Transportation Research Record. In 2021, he was awarded the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) Thomas C. Keefer Medal for his paper on improving computer vision technology in road safety.

Dr. Yili Tang

Dr. Yili Tang is an Assistant Professor at the University of Western Ontario (Canada) and Director of the Mobility Technology Research Group, focusing on travel mobility and human behaviors, transportation modeling and optimization, artificial intelligence and game theory. Dr. Tang and her team are actively engaged in diverse academia and industry in transportation, AI, automation and robotics worldwide in Canada, US, Germany, Austria, Denmark and Hong Kong. Dr. Tang leads and co-leads collaborative research grants, for which her group’s research studies have been published in top-tier journals in transportation engineering economics, and energy domains, and have been awarded the most cited articles and best paper awards. Dr. Tang also serves as a guest editor in Travel Behaviour and Society and Transportmetrica A: Transport Science. She has been a board member of Canadian and international organizations including Vice President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Saskatchewan Section, Secretary and Treasurer of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) Railway Application Section, Vice Chair of the Transportation Division in Canadian Society of Civil Engineering, and Committee Member of Transportation Research Board in National Academies US.
