While the social environment of an individual is an essential component to understanding the management of psychiatric disorders, these aspects are often ignored due to the emphasis on pharmacological treatment in contemporary psychiatry. Roy Kallivayalil, MD, is a professor and the head of the department of psychiatry at Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Thiruvalla, India. He is Vice President (Asia Pacific) of the World Federation for Mental Health.

Marianne Kastrup, MD, is the former head of the National Centre for Transcultural Psychiatry, Copenhagen University Hospital, and the former medical director of International Research and Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims at Copenhagen University Hospital.

Eugenio M. Rothe, MD, is a triple board-certified (adult, child and adolescent and forensic) psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, researcher, and educator who is a founding faculty member and professor of psychiatry of the Herbert Wertheim College
