This book states that the proceedings gathers selected papers from 7th International Conference on Civil Engineering and Architecture (ICCEA 2024), which was held in Da Nang, Vietnam on December 7-9, 2024. The conference is the premier forum for the presentation of new advances and research results in the fields of theoretical, experimental, and practical civil engineering and architecture. And this proceedings from the conference mainly discusses architectural design and project management, environmental protection and spatial planning, design and analysis of building materials, and structural engineering and safety. And these materials can be useful and valuable sources for researchers and professionals working in the field of civil engineering and architecture.

Professor Thomas Kang, PhD, PE, is a professor in the Department of Architecture and Architectural Engineering and the Interdisciplinary Program in Artificial Intelligence at Seoul National University, Korea. Prior to that, he was a professor in the School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA. He has held various affiliated positions in the USA and Japan, including an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma, an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a lecturer at UCLA, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, the University of Tokyo and the University of Cape Town. Prof. Kang received his PhD from UCLA, his MS from Michigan State University, and his BS from Seoul National University. Prof. Kang is a fellow of Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST). Prof. Kang received the Kenneth B. Bondy Award for Most Meritorious Technical Paper as Lead Author twice from PTI in 2012 and 2023, the Wason Medal for Most Meritorious Paper as a lead author from ACI in 2009 with the subject of post-tensioned concrete, and the Martin P. Korn Award as a responsible author from Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) in 2023. Prof. Kang is an editor-in-chief for Wind and Structures and the associate editor for PTI Journal of Post-Tensioning Institute.

Prof. Lee is the Co-Founder and CEO of D.TO, Inc., a technology startup in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, and a faculty member at the Boston Architectural College (BAC) in Massachusetts, USA. Before founding D.TO, he was a Senior Associate at Sasaki Associates, Inc., where he practiced as a licensed architect with over 20 years of experience in the field. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aeronautical Engineering (1998) and a BS in Architecture (2000) from Seoul National University, Korea, as well as a Master of Architecture (M.Arch, 2007) from the Yale School of Architecture, USA. Prof. Lee is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Boston Society of Architects (BSA), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and the Architectural Institute of Korea (AIK). He also serves as a peer reviewer for international academic journals, including the and . Since 2011, he has been teaching Master’s Thesis Studios and advanced architectural workshops in design computation and digital fabrication at Boston Architectural College. His pedagogy uniquely integrates digital design across multiple disciplines, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. As a leading figure in design computation and digital fabrication, Prof. Lee explores emerging technologies in architectural practice with a focus on their practical applications. His research investigates the reciprocal relationship between computational design and fabrication processes, enabling architects to adopt algorithmic approaches in design methodology. While at Sasaki Associates, he led the firm’s design computation group, expanding digital workflows and computational strategies to enhance design capabilities. His research bridges academia and professional practice, advancing design methodologies through integrative design media and generative algorithms. He has published extensively in journals such as , and . He has also presented at major conferences, including the International Conference on Sustainable Building Asia (2016), AIA Conference on Architecture (2017), and ASHRAE Building Performance Analysis Conference (2017).
