Dr sc nat Urszula Barbara Rüfenacht, born 1963 in Warsaw, Poland, studied pharmacy and clinical chemistry in Warsaw, obtaining a doctoral degree in natural sciences from ETH Zurich in 1999 at the Institute of Applied Biopharmacy. She completed internships in biochemistry in the University Center for Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (UCL) under the direction of Prof DJ Vonderschmitt, where she also wrote her diploma thesis, worked at the Institute of Human Genetics under the direction of Prof A Schinzel, worked at the Institute of Medical Microbiology of Prof FH Kayser and participated in the cancer research group of Prof dr med Daniel Fink and PD dr André Fedier in the Department of Gynecology and Breast Cancer Center of the University Hospital Zurich. After many years as owner of a cosmetics company, she devoted herself to alternative healing methods and taught phytotherapy at the Woodtli School in Zurich She is the mother of an adult daughter and a freelance scientist."
