He is the author of Nim: A Chimpanzee Who Learned Sign Language (Columbia University Press, 1987) and more recently the editor of Agency and Joint Attention (with Janet Metcalfe, Oxford University Press, 2013).Herbert S. Terrace is professor of psychology at Columbia University, where he is the director of the Primate Cognition Lab. His books include Nim: A Chimpanzee Who Learned Sign Language (Columbia, 1987).
