Unbonded tendons are popular in certain types of structure for reasons of economy and speed of construction. As the structures depend entirely on the integrity of these unbonded tendons, there has been concern that they may be damaged by corrosion. The FIP Commission on Prestressing Steels and Systems accordingly appointed an ad hoc committee to investigate available knowledge and experience and to instigate research if necessary.
