About the book
A story of confrontation between two universes, that of royalty and that of piracy, between conformity and diversity...
In the sea of Sarboucanes, sailing is dangerous! On his brigantine, L'Enragé, Balbuzar the pirate reigns unchallenged. He attacks, plunders, sinks, ransoms everything that passes within his reach. But Empress Pépita XIII is worried about this state of affairs and sends against Balbuzar his best officer, the Commodore, at the head of a whole armada. This story tells the face-to-face of two exceptional sailors, but in the battle that ensues, shattering, tumultuous, the struggle is nevertheless unequal because the Commodore has an army behind him and the power of the empire. Moncomble, Gérard
Gérard Moncomble was born on March 19th 1951 in Pas-de-Calais, France. He is a French children's books writer, scriptwriter and illustrator. Son of two teachers, and he studied philosophy, psychology and sociology.

As a prolific writer, he has written a lot without being systematically published. Gérard Moncomble writes the scripts for children's novels and comic strips, including Les Chroniques de Zilda T., with Alain Grand and Vilaine, with Alain Grand and David François. He is also the author of essays (Dire, Lire, Écrire ; La Drague, tout un programme), short stories, plays...

His books have been translated into many languages (German, Spanish, English, Japanese, Norwegian, Greek, Danish, Korean...). Balbuzar, illustrated by Frédéric Pillot and published in English by Caurette (that's us!), is a perfect example!

Pillot, Frédéric
Born in 1967, Frédéric Pillot graduated from the School of Decorative Arts of Strasbourg (HEAR). He began his career with historic and comic books, before devoting himself to the illustration of children's literature.
