Miguel Fuentes holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Instituto Balseiro, one of Latin America’s most prestigious scientific institutions. He also earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the National University of La Plata (Argentina) and a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy through the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

Dr. Fuentes has pursued research at several world-class institutions. He is currently an External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute (USA).

His academic work, grounded in applied mathematical physics, bridges science, technology, and society. His research spans statistical mechanics, nonlinear dynamics, and the application of information theory and complexity measures to study emergent behaviors across highly interdisciplinary domains. These include social systems, ecological networks, the spread of information, public policy, and crisis management. A defining emphasis of his research lies in the epistemology of complex systems and the philosophy of innovation, particularly the dynamics of scientific paradigm shifts and the transformation of socio-technological systems.
