Prof. Guangyu Huang (1935-2006), was born in Zhejiang, China. In 1959, he graduated from the  School of Architecture, Chongqing Architecture and Engineering Institute (later changed into Chongqing University). He is Co-Founder of School of Urban Planning, Founder of Urban Planning and Design Institute, Vice Dean of School of Architecture, Doctoral Supervisor and Professor in Chongqing University. He also founded the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Construction’s Mountainous City and Regional Environmental Research Center, and was the first Director. He has served as Senior Associate Member of Urban Planning Society of China, director of Urban Ecological Planning and Construction Professional Committee of China, Deputy Director of Urban Ecology Professional Committee of Ecological Society of China, deputy director of National Steering Committee of Urban and Rural Planning Education in China and Member of Academy Degree Committee of the State Council, the People’s Republic of China. He was Adjunct Professor of Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University and Southwest Jiaotong University. He has published over 190 papers, 5 books and 3 compiled works.
