Sustainable Science and Technologies for Agriculture and Environment: SDG Perspectives explores the mechanistic link between the environmental stress responses mediated by plant growth stimulants and the resulting agricultural stability and food security aligned with targeted SDGs. It enables the reader to understand the impact of persistent environmental concerns, contaminants, and health risks, in the face of increasing global population and the resulting environmental and agricultural needs. The Sustainable Development Goals and agricultural productivity correspond to establish efficient nutrient and food security around the globe. However, the proliferation of environmental stress-induced adversity is simultaneously hampering the goals with regard to the food, economic and green considerations. Sustainable Science and Technologies for Agriculture and Environment: SDG Perspectives provides insights on novel green initiatives designed to align crop production and environmental remediation with the aid of growth stimulants-mediated mechanisms for growth, physiology and yield improvements. Scientists, students and academics in agriculture, crop and environmental sciences will find this resource valuable in understanding the current status of the SDG goals, as well as for inspiring future research.

Khan, M Iqbal R
M. Iqbal R. Khan is an Assistant Professor of Botany at Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, India. His current research interests are physiological and molecular mechanisms associated with abiotic stress tolerance in plants. Dr. Khan identified a significant role of phytohormones in the regulation of plant growth and development, which suggested that phytohormones play an important in controlling stress responses, and interact with each other for defense signal networking to fine tune tolerance mechanisms. He is also exploring the regulatory role of other plant signaling molecules and their impact on plant homeostasis especially source-sink relationship under abiotic stresses.
He has been recognized as Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Award, The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), and has been recognized as Young Scientist of the Year, receiving the award from Scientific and Environmental Research Institute, India. He has been guest editor of "Ethylene: A key regulatory molecule in plants" in Frontiers in Plant Science.

Alam, Afshar
Professor Mohammad Afshar Alam completed is presently working as Vice- Chancellor and Professor and Dean of School of Engineering Sciences and Technology at Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. His research areas include Software Re-engineering, Data Mining, Bio-Informatics, Fuzzy databases, and Sustainable Development. He has authored 10 books, supervised more than 30 Doctoral students and more than 200 Post Graduate research projects and has more than 160 research papers in reputed journals to his credit. He is conferred with many prestigious awards like Bharat Samaj Ratna Award, AMP Award for Excellence in Education, Cooperative Citizen Award, World Environment Day Award, and Spardha Shree Award. He is also the member of various government bodies at both National and International level including University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Department of Science & Technology (DST).

Abdin, Malik Zainul
Dr. Malik Zainul Abdin is currently working as Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi. He has published four books in the capacity of editor/co-author and has been working for last 20 years in the field of plant biotechnology. His area of focus is metabolic engineering of medicinal and crop plants for better yield, quality and tolerance to abiotic/biotic stresses. He is also working on modulation of secondary plant metabolites synthesis employing RNAi technology and the development of DNA fingerprints for authentication of herbal/unani drugs.
