In this book, Edouard Husson, a native of France, and Ulrike Reisner, a native of Austria, take a special look at Germany after the 2025 federal elections. They explore the political division in Germany, whose roots go back a long way. The authors trace the broad outlines of Germany's foreign and economic policy and highlight examples of misguided decisions made in recent decades. The apparent geopolitical timidity that German politics has long been accused of in Europe is critically assessed in an evaluation of Euro-Atlantic alliance policy since the end of the Cold War. The authors attempt to show that the special relationship between the United States and Germany has become a decisive obstacle to the reorientation of Europe in the new multipolar world order.

Ulrike Reisner ist Politologin und Unternehmensberaterin in Wien. Sie ist Mitgesellschafterin der Stix Rechtsanwälte Kommandit-Partnerschaft. Ulrike Reisner publiziert seit mehreren Jahren in Frankreich und Russland zu verschiedenen europapolitischen Themen und legt dabei einen besonderen Fokus auf die Länder Mittel- und Osteuropas. Seit 2024 baut sie zusammen mit Edouard Husson und weiteren Experten das Institut Brennus auf.

Husson, Edouard
Edouard Husson ist Professor für die Geschichte der internationalen Beziehungen an der CY Cergy-Paris Université und Mitbegründer des Institut Brennus. Er ist Herausgeber des Courrier des Stratèges. Edouard Husson war Generaldirektor der ESCP Business School. Seine Forschungsarbeit befasst sich mit der Geschichte zeitgenössischer Konflikte, insbesondere mit der Geschichte des Zweiten Weltkriegs und des Kalten Krieges.
