Advanced Laboratory Testing in Geotechnical Engineering: From Concepts to Methods delivers a thorough investigation into modern laboratory techniques critical for understanding soil properties and behavior. The book opens by presenting the significance of precise laboratory testing within geotechnical engineering, emphasizing the necessity of standardized procedures to ensure reliability and accuracy. It further introduces the foundational requirements for conducting soil tests, alongside practical applications that demonstrate their value in real-world engineering. This resource is designed to support professionals and researchers in mastering the complexities inherent in testing soil materials for various geotechnical purposes.

In addition, the book explores advanced topics such as soil sampling and preservation, detailing methods to maintain sample integrity from field to lab. It covers a spectrum of soil mechanics tests, including conventional, dynamic, and cyclic assessments, as well as specialized techniques for unsaturated soils. Readers gain insights into soil flow characteristics, retention capacity under diverse moisture conditions, physical modeling, and microstructural characterization. These features make the book an indispensable guide for deepening expertise in soil mechanics and for applying cutting-edge laboratory methods to solve complex geotechnical challenges.

Sadeghi, Hamed
Hamed Sadeghi is Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Sharif University of Technology, critically acclaimed as the Iran's most prestigious and leading institution for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. Hamed holds an impressive array of academic degrees, all with notable educational and research distinctions recognized by Iran's National Elites Foundation. He is pioneering innovative programs, serving as the first graduate and coordinator of the SUT-HKUST Dual-Degree PhD program in all disciplines. Hamed is the director of the Geotechnical Group and the founding director of the Green Geotechnology Laboratory, a groundbreaking new academic infrastructure in civil and environmental engineering that is paving the way for advanced research on sustainable development and urban greenery. Over the past three decades, Hamed has been the recipient of numerous scientific and cultural awards, including the KANS honorary diploma, the "Dr. Kazemi-Ashtiani" prize recognizing him as a nationally distinguished young research assistant professor, as well as being named Sharif University's distinguished student. He has also been awarded the best PhD thesis in civil and environmental engineering. Hamed's research record includes over 80 published articles. He has served as the Chair of the Iran InterPore Chapter and the Chair of TC-106 Unsaturated Soils, of the Iranian Geotechnical Society. He takes great pride in having recruited and supervised over 50 elite students as research or teaching assistants. His research team is at the forefront of advancing knowledge about the complex interplay between soil, solutes, the atmosphere, plants, and bacteria, conducting rigorous characterization, theoretical modeling, and numerical simulation in a multidisciplinary context.

Molaabasi, Hossein
Hossein MolaAbasi received his MSc and PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Guilan and Babol University of Technology, Iran, in 2010 and 2016 respectively, and he works as an Assistant Professor at Gonbad University. He is currently working on the soil improvement, particularly zeolite or/ and cement improved soils, the basis of which is laboratory-based and has a noticeable number of students in this field. He has published numerous articles which subjects revolve around the experimental tests that can be found in Google Scholar. Furthermore, he seeks to develop a relationship based on neural networks in his articles.
