She previously lectured at Brunel University andhas beenVisiting Scholar in the Department of Sociology and the Center for Language Interaction and Culture at UCLA. Her previous works include Conversation and Gender (co-edited with Elizabeth Stokoe) and the first edition of Gender Talk.
