Dr. Amina Memon is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at theUniversity of Aberdeen. She has a first-class degree in psychology(1982) and a Ph.D. in psychology (1985). Her main areas ofexpertise are social and cognitive psychology. Dr. Memon haspublished widely on topics such as the investigative interviewingof child witnesses, police interviews, face recognition, eyewitnessidentification, the performance of elderly witnesses, falsememories and jury decision making. Between 1991 and 1997. Dr. Memonconducted extensive psychological research on procedures forinterviewing child witnesses for the purpose of obtaining completeand accurate witness reports.
Professor Aldert Vrij is Professor of AppliedSocial Psychology at the University of Portsmouth. His main area ofexpertise is deception, mainly the nonverbal and verbalcharacteristics of deception, and he has published widely on theseissues. For conducting this research, he has received grants fromthe ESRC, the Leverhulme Trust, the Dutch Organisation ofScientific Research (the Dutch equivalent of the ESRC) and theDutch Ministry of Justice. He gives workshops on deception topolice officers in several countries on a regular basis.
Professor Ray Bull is Professor of Forensic Psychology atthe University of Portsmouth. His main areas of expertise arepolice interviewing and the relationship between physicalappearance and criminality, topics on which he has publishedextensively. He is regularly invited to present seminars andlectures to police audiences in many countries. His most recentexternally funded research project was from the Innovative ResearchChallenge Fund of the Home Office for work on improvingchildren's face recognition performance.
