Joshua Mostow is Professor of Asian Studies at The University of British Columbia. He research interests are premodern Japanese literature, in translation and in the original; premodern Japanese text and image inter-relations; classical Japanese language; Japanese women’s self-writing; post-colonial theory; Edo sexuality; and Japanese film. His publications include Pictures of the Heart: The Hyakunin Isshu in Word and Image (Hawai'i Press, 1996), At the House of Gathered Leaves: Shorter Biographical and Autobiographical Narratives from Japanese Court Literature (Hawai'i Press 2004) and The Columbia Companion to Modern East Asian Literature (CUP, 2003).Joshua S. Mostow is professor of Asian studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He is a contributor to Inventing the Classics: Modernity, National Identity, and Japanese Literature (Columbia, 2000).Kirk A.
