Klaus Hackländer studied Zoology at Philipps-University Marburg/Lahn and the University of Vienna. He is Full Professor for Wildlife Biology and Wildlife Management at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna and coordinates the master programme on Wildlife Ecology and Wildlife Management. Hackländer is member of numerous mammalogical societies and served as president of the German Society for Mammalian Biology from 2009 to 2016. He was Editor-in-Chief of the journal Mammal Review from 2009 to 2015 and co-edited two books on Lagomorpha, his favourite mammalian taxon. Hackländer’s research covers all fields of mammalian biology, including ecology, behavior, physiology, diseases and management.

Paulo Célio Alves is an associate professor of biology in the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Porto and the head of the Conservation Genetics and Wildlife Management research group at CIBIO (Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetics Resources). The cofounder and president of the World Lagomorph Society, he is the coeditor of the book Lagomorph Biology: Evolution, Ecology, and Conservation.
