Short summary
In this thesis an optoelectronic sensor for quality assurance in laser deep penetration welding of steel sheets is developed. The measurement principle is based on the detection of the position of the vapour plume in real time and is suited for remote processing. High speed imaging is used to identify correlations between the vapor plume position and the geometry of the keyhole.
