James C. Kaufman, PhD, is Professor of Educational Psychology, University of Connecticut, USA. An internationally recognized leader in the field of creativity, he is the author/editor of more than 26 books, including Applied Intelligence (2008), Essentials of Creativity Assessment (2008),Cambridge Handbook of Creativity (2010), The Evolution of Intelligence (2012) and Teaching for Creativity in the Common Core Classroom (2014). Dr. Kaufman is the current President of American Psychological Association’s Division 10, which is devoted to the psychology of creativity, aesthetics, and the arts. He is the Founding Co-Editor of Psychology of Popular Media Culture and Co-Founded Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts, both published by APA. He has won numerous awards, including the Torrance Award from the National Association for Gifted Children, the Berlyne and Farnsworth Awards from APA, and Mensa’s research award. Dr. Kaufman has been quoted frequently in the media on creativity in education, business, and the arts -- including a 2010 Newsweek cover story on “the creativity crisis”-- and maintains a Psychology Today blog on the psychology on media, popular culture, and the arts.
